October 18, 2016, University Malaysia Pahang has a signing memorandum of understanding with Asahitechno Co. Ltd, Japan. As a technical university that is committed to educational excellence, UMP adopts the academia-industry strategy to provide opporturnities for our staff and students to gain training, practical knowledge and experience from the industry. A good balance is necessary to ensure that our staff and students equipped with sufficient industry knowledge to be able to contribute positively to the growth and development of the nation. Today’s MoU signing between UMP and Asahitechno is most timely and relevant. With progressive growth in construction industry for both country, there is strong emphasis on emerging technologies and innovations to ensure the sustainability of this industry. As one of the Centre of Excellence established in UMP, Center for Earth Resources Research & Management (CERRM) are combining their expertise and skills in the field of engineering to conduct research related to the branches of civil engineering and the environment, and this includes the field of geotechnical engineering and ground improvement.
Thus, cooperation with Asahitechno through this MoU will enhance the ability of research conducted by CERRM by exploring aspects of potential collaboration and collective synergy with Asahitechno. In this relationship, UMP welcomes Asahitechno as our latest strategic partner through MoU signing today. With high commitment from both sides will allow this strategic alliance preserved through the exploration of areas of cooperation that could be developed together. With expertise as among a top company in Japan, I am confident that Asahitechno is capable of providing added value complementary to the development of teaching and research activities in the field of civil and geotechnical engineering carried out by the University.
